Obituaries

BARNUM, MRS EUNICE J -- Mrs Eunice J Barnum, 93, died Thursday night at home, 2104 South fifty-eighth street. Surviving are three sons, Jason, Lincoln, Charles, Neligh, Neb., and Byron, Portland, Ore., four daughters, Mrs Anna Eatinger, Lincoln, Mrs Paul Barnes, Harrison, Neb., Mrs Reitz, Council Bluffs, Ia and Mrs Joe Long, Anaconda, Mont. 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday at the home, Rev. Paul Barnds officiating. Burial in the Greenwood, Nebr cemetery. Roper & Sons.

BARNUM, JASON B -- Jason B Barnum, 76, 2401 South fifty-eighth Street, died in Lincoln Monday morning. Surviving are four sisters: Mrs Anna Eatinger, Lincoln, Mrs Pearl Long, Anaconda, Mont, Mrs Alice Reitz, Council Bluffs, Ia, and Mrs Paul Barnes, Perryville, Ark and two brothers, Byron, Portland, Ore and Charlie, Neligh, Nebr. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3 pm at Roper & Sons. Rev Paul Barnds officiating. Maryalice Macy, organist. Burial Greenwood.

Services Monday, 2:30 pm Crosby-Kunold Mortuary, 32nd Ave and Farnam St. Committal, Hillcrest.

OOSTING -- Tim (Tommie), 70, 4735 S 54th Street, died Sunday, Pacific Gunshop employee. Survivors: brothers, Menno, Clarence, both Lincoln, John, Panama, Garret, Adams; sisters, Anna Heidtbrink, Fern Bade, both Lincoln; nieces; nephews.

Services: 1:30pm Wednesday, HODGMAN-SPLAIN-ROBERTS CHAPEL, 4300 O Street, The Rev William Pfeiffer. Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials to Homestead Nursing Home.

William Vandertook

William Vandertook was born Sept 28, 1873 at Fulton, ILL and died April 8, 1941, in Lincoln at the age of 67. He came to Nebraska as a child of 4 and lived in this vincinity ever since. He was married Feb 25, 1897 to Julia Bade of Holland, and they set up housekeeping on a farm north of Firth. For the past 41 years, he had lived at the same home in Firth. He had been in failing health for several months but was ill only a short time. Surviving are his wife, four sons, Alco and Gustave of Panama, Samuel and Clyde of Firth; eight daughters, Mrs Katheryn McCarrel, Mrs Alice Wilhelmy, Mrs Clara Cady, and Mrs Wilma Hale of Omaha; Mrs Elizabeth Oosting of Panama, Mrs Edward Huenink, Mrs Raymond Scott and Mildred Vandertook of Firth; his aged mother, Mrs A V Vandertook of Firth; two brothers and six sisters.

SCOTT -- Johanna (widow of Raymond) 76, Panama, died Saturday. Homemaker. Member Panama Presbyterian Church. Survivors: sons, Charlie, Robert, both Lincoln; daughters, Mrs Ivan (Lila) Baade, Canoga Park, Calif; Mrs Donald (Beverly) Randall, Bennet, Mrs Alvin (Delores) Nisely, Lincoln; brothers, Sam Vandertook, Omaha, Clyde Vandertook, Lincoln; sisters, Marie Huenink, Lincoln, Mildred Bauserman, Omaha, Mrs Ralph (Wilma) Drawbaugh, Omaha, Mrs John (Elizabeth) Oosting, Panama; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 am Thursday, Bethany Lutheran, Elkhorn. Burial: Holland. In state, Swanson's, Valley.

Survivors: wife, Jennie; son, don, Panama; daughter, Mrs Melvin (Lorraine) Lesoing, Hickman; brothers, Henry Clyde, Lincoln, Samuel, Omaha; sisters, Mrs John (Elizabeth) Oosting, Panama, Mrs Johanna Scott, Panama, Mrs Marie Huenink, Lincoln, Mrs Mildred Bauserman, Omaha, Mrs Ralph (Wilma) Drawbaugh, Omaha. Six grandchildren.

SELECTED 1900 US CENSUS -- NEBRASKA COUNTIES ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS OF BEING COMPILED. THE INFORMATION THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE IS FROM ACTUAL COPIES IN MY POSSESSION. MY GOAL IS TO ADD A NEW PAGE WEEKLY. ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND IS THAT THESE CENSUS RECORDS WERE HANDWRITTEN AND ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO DECYPHER SOMETIMES.
