JOHN DEERE

Patio 112
( 1969 to 1972 )

In the late 1960's Deere and Company decided in order to capture a bigger share of the Urban Lawn & Garden Equipment market, that they would produce Lawn & Garden Equipment in different colors.   Thus in 1969 John Deere began to build the Patio Series painted "Dogwood White" with a choice of Red, Blue, Yellow or Orange hood and seat at their Horicon, Wisconsin Manufacturing facility.

This "Sunset Orange" 112 tractor was built in 1971, featuring a Cast Iron Kohler 12 Hp engine with the "Variator" drive system to change the ground speed "on the go".   The Variator is between the engine and the four speed transmission.   The Patio series has a different type code than the John Deere Green and Yellow equipment.   The metal part of the seat is finished in a "wrinkle" type metal.   All of the attachments for the Patio series is painted "Dogewood White" to match the tractor and carries a different type code also.

The buying public wanted the John Deere Green and Yellow equipment like their Agricultural friends, thus the Patio series did not sell very well.   A lot of the Patio equipment was repainted in the Standard John Deere colors and sold that way.
