Routes

How to Get Here

Take Exit 312 from I-80. Turn South on Rt. 281 for about 16 miles. Turn East on 14th Street. Take the first right turn into the parking lot behind the Hastings Museum. Registration is at the shelter in Highland Park behind the train.

After the Ride

Showers are available after the ride at the Hastings YMCA on 16th Street. Join us inside the Hastings Museum for an after-ride meal. Additional meals and discount admission to the museum may be purchased for your family and friends who may not have participated in the ride. Discount admission to the Lied Super Screen Theatre is also available to guests of ride participants.

New this Year!

The after-ride meal is in the Hastings Museum. Your meal, admission to the museum and giant screen film are all included with your entry fee. Family and friends that attend with you but don't particpate in the ride may purchase admission to the museum and/or theatre at a discounted rate.

At registration, you will receive a certificate to the Hastings Museum. Upon checking in at the museum for lunch, you will be asked which giant screen film you would like to see. You may choose from the three films that will be showing. The showtimes are listed below.

After the ride, join us in the Hastings Museum for a meal of lasagna or veggie lasagna, garden salad, roll and a drink. Then enjoy all the museum has to offer. Featuring the J.M. McDonald Planetarium, the hands-on Groundwater Discovery Adventure, and the Lied Super Screen Theatre, the museum has many species of animals set in their natural habitats including the world’s largest display of Whooping cranes. The museum also chronicles the history of the early inhabitants of the Nebraska plains and how Edwin Perkins created the famous soft drink Kool-Aid.

Wired to WinWired to Win

Wired to Win: Surviving the Tour de France, a new giant screen film now showing at the Lied Super Screen Theatre, tells the true story of two riders in the legendary bike race – Australian Baden Cooke, and his French teammate Jimmy Casper – as they attempt to compete in the grueling three-week-long event. The film follows Baden, Jimmy and the other elite athletes over the towering peaks of the Alps and the cobblestone streets of Paris, as they try to avoid danger, deny crushing pain and fatigue, control their emotions, seize fleeting moments of opportunity and stay highly motivated. Powering each of them is the source of universal ambition and ability: the human brain, presented here as a dynamic engine of possibility.

Kool-Aid Days

Thousands of “kids” of all ages gather in Hastings, Nebraska the second full weekend of every August to celebrate the invention of Kool-Aid, Nebraska’s Official Soft Drink, by Edwin Perkins in 1927. The festival features the World’s Largest Kool-Aid Stand, giant inflatable rides, carnival games, festival foods, trolley rides through the Hastings Historic District and many other events. Visitors can purchase commemorative “Kollectibles” including special $2 mugs, which entitle them to drink as much Kool-Aid as they want of 16 flavors served.

On Sunday, August 10, the Hastings Museum offers fun for the whole family, including the Kool-Aid: Discover the Dream exhibit.
