A room that tells a story...

I wanted my mom to see the nursery, since she won’t be coming out until after our child is born, this is the best I can do.

When we bought our house, we knew that this room would some day be the nursery for our first born. At the time, I never would’ve guessed that day would come so soon.

In this first picture, you are looking from the door of the room into the north east corner. The colorful dresser in the foreground is painted by a friend of my mother-in-law who’s name is Faye. Susan and I both really like her work, and she gave us this dresser as a gift for the baby. It tells the story of Twiggs and Bear (a rag doll and a teddy bear who are friends). It’s a cool piece and it started kind of a story time theme for the  nursery. That painting in the background was given to me by my dad and fit into the room perfectly.

I should give credit to another of my mother-in-law’s friends for helping us get this room together. Karen has given us a lot of great ideas (as well as some great loot). We really appreciate the help. Just about everything else in this room was given to us by Susan’s mom. Sometimes I wonder who’s actually decorating this room, as  new stuff keeps appearing during the day while I’m at work.

In this second picture, you are looking  from toward the south east corner of the room. That big dress is holding just about everything we own for the baby. I was standing in a spot where we will hopefully have a super comfortable Lazy-boy chair soon. We figured that it will be really nice to crash in that thing while feeding the kid (I guess Sue will be getting a little more utility out of that than I). You can also see the the Elvis  painting off to the right. I think Susan thinks of Elvis (the cat not the King) as our first child. She really wanted this painting, also done by Faye  (given as a wedding present) to hang in the room of our first born.

The room isn’t quite finished yet, but we’re waiting to meet our child to put down the final touches. Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to do that soon. - JKW 9/15/00
