Peter Yoakum was born abt 1782. He married Sally (Sarah) Stinnit and resided in Roane Co. Tenn. during the 1830 census. In the 1830 Tennesse census records Peter's household lists: 2 males between age 5-10, 1 male age 10-15, and 2 males age 15-20, 2 females under age 5, 1 female between age 5-10, and 1 female age 30-40 (Sally). Peter and his family moved sometime between 1835 and 1837 to Johnson Co., Illinois (southern tip of Illinois) as that is where is he located in the 1840 census. In the 1840 Census, Peter's household consisted of 1 male age 5-10 (George W.), 1 male age 15-20 (William J.), 1 male age 20-30, 2 females under 5 (Lousia & Mancrua Ann), 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 20-30, and 1 female 40-50 (Sally). Peter must have died sometime between 1840 and 1850 as his widow, Sarah (Sally) Yoakum is listed as head of household in the 1850 Census of Pulaski Co, Illinois. Listed with her are: George W. 15 M Corn Lab. Tenn Louisa 13 F Illinois Mancrua Ann 11 F Illinois Located on the same 1850 census page near Sarah(Sally) Yoakum is William J. Yoakum (I'm assuming William is Sarah's son). William's census entry is as follows: William J. Yoakum 26 M Illinois Mary Ann 24 F Illinois Malinda E. 3 F Illinois Isaac N. 1 M Illinois Valentine(Felty) Yoakum was born abt 1786 and married Sally/Sharlotte Reynolds. Valentine(Felty) died sometime between 1825 and 1830. In the 1830 Roane Co, Tenn. Census, Sharlotte Yoakum is listed as head of household which lists the following: 1 male under age 5 2 males age 5-10 1 male age 10-15 2 males ages 15-20 1 male age 20-30 (George?-b. 1809) 1 female age 5-10 2 females ages 10-15 1 female age 15-20 2 females ages 20-30 (Ruth?-b. 1808 and Patsy?) 1 female age 50-60 (Sharlotte) Sharlotte (Charlotte) later married Edward Edwards on Dec. 26, 1831 in Roane Co., Tennessee. (Source: Marriage records of Roane Co., Tenn. 1801-1855) These same marriage records indicate that a Patsy Yoakum married a Hiram Grunnit on Sept. 19, 1831 in Roane Co., Tenn. I'm assuming that Patsy was a daughter of Sharlotte and Felty Yoakum. On the 1840 Census, an Edward Edwards is listed in 3 counties in Tennessee: Bradley, Robertson, and Franklin counties. Based upon ages of Charlotte's children in 1830 census, the Bradley Co, Tenn. Edward Edwards is my best guess. That entry for Edward Edwards is: BR-67 002110001-00012001.
