This is a large clock in a tower adjoining the Dresdener Schloss. It drives 5 two-handed faces, four on the level of the main works and one on the level below. Unlike most clocks, it uses the small hand for minutes and the large hand for hours. The pendulum swings in 2.5 seconds and is 7 meters long, from the ceiling of the 7th floor to the floor of the 6th. The original was built in 1741-42 and put into use in 1746. It was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 1986-1996.
