Russell County Virginia Reeds Valley

August the 25th 1846

Dear Son, I take this oppertunity To Inform you that
we all well Except my self I am Verry bad decrippled
not able scarcely to get about but I hope these Lines
will find you all well I have nothing verry
strange to write to you Crops of corn is Tolerable
good I have six or seven acres of corn in and the
most of it is verry good I want to move down to
your country this fall and I want you & the boys to
come if you can about the first of November
& help me for it is impossible for me to get
the___without help and I will against that time

to________s soon as you receive this letter how you
able____be coming on and how times is there
& whether you can help me move or not so
as I may know what to depend upon You wrote to
me that you wanted Caty to come to stay with
your wife but Abslom could not come with
her he had hired to work such a length of time
with Archer Jessee I want you to write whether you could get
me a place that I could raise a little something on
to sustain animal life So no more at present But
remains your affectionate Father Until Death
