On February 10th, 2006,
longtime comic artist Paul Norris returned to his alma mater,
Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska, for a reception and
gallery show honoring his long career. I had the privilege of attending
and photographing the festivities.
Norris, noted for his long tenure on the Brick Bradford
comic strip, attended Midland Lutheran in the 1930s before following
his muse to New York City. There he was hired by DC Comics and became
the creator of the well-known superhero Aquaman. At the age of 91 he
returned to Nebraska for the celebration along his sons Reed and
Michael.
A few weeks later I put together a 10-minute film commemorating the
event. You can view it by clicking the link below. It requires Windows
Media Player 10 or a compatible player.
