Voter Registration Information

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION TO VOTE:
All citizens who wish to vote in Nebraska must meet the following requirements:
- United States citizen
- At least 18 years old on or before the first Monday in November
- Reside in Nebraska
- Have not been found mentally incompetent
- Have not been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, it has been at least two years since the sentence has been completed, including parole
WHERE TO REGISTER TO VOTE:
- In person, at the county clerk’s office or the county commissioner’s office
- Get registration forms at a public library, at a state agency, or in the telephone book and mail in the registration
- Go online to the Secretary of State's web site, www.sos.state.ne.us to download a registration form
- At voter registration booths that are set up in businesses or at special events
MAIL-IN REGISTRATION
If you are registering to vote for the first time and you are mailing in your registration form, you must provide a copy of a document that shows your name and address. The document can be a copy of:
- your driver’s license,
- a utility bill or other business document,
- a government document that lists your name and address.
WHERE TO VOTE
You will receive a voter registration card in the mail after you have registered to vote. The card lists where you go to vote, along with other information. You should keep the card in a safe place, but you do NOT have to present the card when you go to vote.
