From Descendants of George Allen of England and Sandwich, Massachusetts:
Francis Allen, probably a son of George Allen and his first wife, was born in England. In 1643, his name appears on the list of men from Sandwich, between the ages of sixteen and sixty, who were able to bear arms in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts. Francis was later married at Sandwich in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts (now within Barnstable County, Massachusetts) on 20 July 1662 to a woman named Mary Besse. Mary was the daughter of Anthony and Jane Besse. After Mary's father, Anthony, passed away, Mary's mother married for a second time to the Sheriff of Sandwich, George Barlow.
Francis later died at Sandwich in 1698. His will, which was written on the 18th day, 12th month, 1695 (18 February 1695/96), was subsequently probated on 19 March 1697/98.
