Fraction bingo
Procedure
Review with the student what the numerator is and what the denominator is in each fraction.
Have the student open Firefox and locate one of the following websites
Model for the student how to play each game on the site.
Play a round with the student.
Let the student play independently, still talking about the different fractions.
For the last twenty minutes of math, play fraction bingo to review the different fractions and what they look like. This helps the student understand the relationship between the numerator and denominator.
Talk about that the number on top (numerator) shows the rectangles that are colored in and the number on bottom (denominator) shows the total number of rectangles.
Assessment
Teacher observation of student during games.
Teacher observation of fraction game.
Adaptations
Give the student a cue card for reminding them of the numerator and denominator.
Have the student play a lower level of difficulty of the Internet games.
Find the student an alternate site with an activity to match their skill level.
