Rationale
This lesson is designed to help the student practice and review the different parts of speech, consonant and vowel sounds, classifying information, and vocabulary skills. Students practice these skills frequently but this provides the student with a different and fun way to practice.

Goals
The student will be able to identify the different main parts of speech.
Objectives
The student will be able to play Word Munchers and identify the nouns, verbs, or pronouns in each game.
The student will be able to play Word Munchers and categorize and classify information within each level of the game.
The student will be able to play Word Munchers and identify consonant vowel sounds and clusters and apply them to words.
The student will be able to identify the noun and verb in a sentence correctly in 4 out of 5 opportunities.

Procedure
Review with the student the different parts of speech prior to playing the game.
Play through one round with the student so they understand how to play the game.
Have the student play independently while the teacher monitors the student.

After the student completes the game, give the student five sentences and have them identify the nouns and verbs in each sentence.
This is a quick check for one of the areas covered in the game. Other quick assessments could be developed for the other areas of the game if needed.

Adaptations
Click the mouse for the student as they point to the computer screen.
Give the student a cue card to remind them of the different parts of speech.
Repeat and explain the directions for the student.
Start the student on a lower level and then move them up,
Have the student identify fewer answers within each activity and then move on.
