My Only Comfort
lyrics by Paul Treick, 1990

tune: "The Solid Rock"
by Dimitri Bortniansky
In life and death my comfort is:
With soul and body, I am His.
Christ bought me with His precious blood
And set me free from Satan's bond.
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
I am not my own, nor would I be--
By Jesus' blood, my soul's set free.
My sovereign Lord has made me whole--
Imputing life to my dead soul.
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
Adopted as a child of God,
My Father seeks my every good.
Sustained by Him, kept in His care,
He numbers even every hair.
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
God's wisdom, grace, and love most pure,
My whole salvation does secure.
Ordained by God, so must it be--
Affliction to prosperity
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
God's gift to me-- eternal life--
Is mine amidst all earthly strife.
No doubts or fears my soul can lure;
His Spirit does this life assure.
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
By grace, my life is guided still,
With ready mind to do His will.
I'll live my life His name to praise;
For Christ the Lord, my Saviour is!
IN LIFE, IN DEATH, MY COMFORT IS:
REDEEMED BY JESUS, I AM HIS!
Amen
