Stephenson |
Skip Stephenson was a stand-up comic and one of
the hosts of the NBC-TV program Real People which aired from 1979
- 1984. He also appeared on episodes of The Love Boat, Hart to
Hart and a variety of game shows such as The Match Game and
Hollywood Squares. His talk show appearances included the
Tonight Show, Dinah Shore and Merv Griffin.

Stephenson's career began at an Omaha radio station.
As a comedian, he appeared at the L.A. Cabaret and the Comedy Store in
Los Angeles.
Stephenson never forgot his Nebraska roots and was
hired by the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau to appear in some
promotional advertising campaigns. Stephenson donated the money he
received for the campaign to Holy Name High School, his alma mater.
Stephenson also returned to Omaha in 1977 to help raise funds for the
school. Holy Name eventually closed.
In 1982, he dabbled with a brief stint as a country
music singer.
In 1991, he appeared in a video, Skip Stephenson
Live at the Comedy Store.
Stephenson died of a heart attack in his home on May
18, 1992. He is buried near his parents at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
in Omaha.
