My girlfriend, Carol, and I are fortunate to be acquainted with a group of like minded friends who believe the way to see this country is from the back of a motorcycle.
I have put over 50,000 miles on my bike the last 3 years. We have ridden through sleet in mountain passes, in the 100 degree plus heat of the desert, around Lake Superior and tamed The Dragon in North Carolina.
While on a motorcycle you are a part of the environment. If it rains, you get wet. When the sun comes out you dry off. You feel the subtle changes in temperature as you enter a valley and smell the mountain air as you climb in elevation. You have a 360 degree unobstructed view.
I love the feel of leaning into a tight curve and anticipating the next bend of the road. It is a feeling you cannot get cooped up in an automobile. Click on Photos above to see a slide show of our trips.
You ever wonder why a dog likes to hang his head out the window? One trip on a motorcycle and you will know. I bought a 2004 Harley Davidson Road King Classic and have been touring ever since..
