The tiR FAQ

Q: Is it true that this FAQ was inspired by a similar document created by a friend of tiR?
A: Absolutely.

Q: What does tiR stand for?
A: tiR is short for tiResias, the blind prophet of Thebes and a long-time handle dating way back to the pre-internet BBS days.

Q: Why is the "R" capitalized?
A: There is no reason other than purely random whim.
(see the Random Number Of The Moment page for help with your own random whim.)

Q: What are some of tiR's favorite numbers?
A: 8, 15, 12, and sometimes 37, in that order.

Q: What are some of tiR's favorite bands?
A: Pink Floyd, Zambonis, Wally Pleasant, Live, Benfolds Five, They Might Be Giants, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Garbage, and that one band, with that one song, you know?

Q: What about other kinds of music?
A: tiR enjoys listening to Jazz, Classical, "Alternative," Lounge, Techno/Industrial, Ska, Zydeco, Polka, Folk, and probably more. Modern country music makes tiR's ears bleed.

Q: tiR seems to have a quirk for old computers, is this true?
A: tiR collects "vintage" computers. His collection now includes: Amiga 500, Amiga 3000, Apple //e, Apple //e platinum, Apple //c, Apple III, Apple III+, Commodore 16, Commodore 64, Commodore +4, Commodore 128, (Commodore SX-64 on the way!) IBM Personal Computer (with cassette interface!), IBM PC XT, Macintosh Plus, Timex-Sinclair 1500 (broken keyboard), TRS-80 Model II (with 8" floppies).
*new!* Commodore "Executive" SX-64 luggable.

Q: What are some of tiR's favorite foods?
A: Mostly pasta. Red sauce, white sauce, pesto, it doesn't really matter.

Q: Can tiR cook?
A: tiR is Iron Chef Bachelor Food. If it comes in a box, needs a minimum of pots, comes with instructions, involves the microwave, or is served in its own container, tiR is an expert. tiR actually likes to cook and does play around with new recipies and such. tiR has a small stable of original recipies he likes to make, as well as an enjoyment for doddling in the kitchen and seeing what becomes of it.

Q: Is it true that tiR once ran backwards for 3 miles?
A: Don't ever tell an impressionable youth that you doubt they can do something.

Q: Where can I bump into tiR online?
A: tiR is found occasionally on MicroMUSE (micromuse.musenet.org 4201), TOS TrekMUSE (tos.tos.net 1701) and VirtualChicago (vchicago.org 4201).

Q: What are some of tiR's favorite movies?
A: 2001, Amadeus, The Crow, Blackhole, The Matrix, and Fail Safe.

Q: What kinds of video games does tiR like?
A: Pong is the One True Game. tiR really doesn't play video games very often, though he is a big fan of the original Civilization. Recently he's become addicted to Age of Empires and the sequel Age of Kings. Pinball is more to tiR's liking. This position was reinforced by the recent smoking he got at the hands of Gorto in an arcade in Boulder, Colorado at just about every game. Including Joust. How shameful.

Q: Okay, what are some of tiR's favorite pinball machines?
A: Back in his highschool days, tiR enjoyed a machine called Earthshaker. More recently he really enjoys Attack From Mars. tiR also owns a machine called Delta Queen, which was produced June, 1974. It is electro-mechanical and fun to work on. 1500 Delta Queen machines were built.

Q: Does tiR have any favorite sports?
A: Yes, hockey, soccer, and football.

Q: Is tiR portable?
A: tiR has been to the following states, listed in semi-geographic order: Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia, as well as the province of Alberta, Canada.

Q: Is this silly FAQ almost over?
A: No, it is over.
