Riding Switzerland in 2005

PAGE 1 - Getting Started & The Ibergeregg Pass

In May of 2005 I had to travel to Baden, Switzerland on Business. I took a week of vacation following the meetings to see a bit of the Swiss countryside. My son, Kelly, joined me. Submitted here is a brief journal of that week.

First order of business was to take the #14 tram to the Zurich main station, transfer to the #31 bus, and fetch our rental rides from Arrigoni Sport. We rented two BMW F650GS's.

It's too bad this beauty wasn't for rent. This BMW R1200GS was modified by Arrigoni Sport with Schnitzer bodywork and custom paint. It's much prettier than the stock GS, but I can't decide if I like it. It makes the big GS look much more street oriented, I think.

We decided to head south, towards the Alps.  The views were memorable...

...and the towns were quaint.

In Switzerland you ride the mountain passes. In May, your choices are limited, as many are closed to snow. Our first was the Ibergeregg Pass.

Quite scenic, and moderately challenging.

We're not in Madison County anymore, Toto.
