Nebraska
to Alaska
In the summer of 2000, Russ Cusick and I decided to ride our motorcycles
from Omaha, Nebraska, up the Al-Can Highway (now known as the Alaska Highway)
to Alaska and back to Nebraska. On the afternoon of the twenty-first of
July, with tents and gas cans strapped to our bikes, Russ and I set out
from the power plant that we work at. Russ was riding his new Honda Shadow
Spirit 1100, and I was on my 1997 Honda Valkyrie. Over the next twenty
days, we covered just over 8,000 miles of roads, through six states and
three provinces. In the pages linked below, I have attempted to journal
our adventure in photographs and words. The final link is a list of our
gas stops with the odometer readings from my bike, which may be useful
to someone planning a similar trip. Enjoy....
