6300 Dinner Club

This is the premier way for Newcomers and Oldcomers to get acquainted. Participants attend four potluck dinners between October and June; you host one and attend three others; the host provides the entree and beverages. Adults only. Random seating is assigned. Solos and couples are welcome. Further guidelines are available at the registration table on Sundays. Questions? Please contact the Office Staff.

Activities for Men

The Membership Council Chair has received feedback from a number of sources interested in creating more activities for men in our congregation. Some activities that have been suggested include a book group, a regular men's luncheon, and a group of men that would meet for discussion one or two evenings a month.

If you would like to explore the possibility of participating in one or more of these activities, or would like to suggest other possibilities, please contact Bob Shipley.

Adult Education

The Adult Education section has moved.

Adult Game Night

The December game night will be on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Potluck starts at 6:30 PM, and games start at 8:00 PM. Come for either or both. The theme will be Thanksgiving. Turkey will be furnished, but please bring complementary dishes. All adults (newcomers, singles, and couples) are welcome to come and have a good time.

Please contact the Office Staff for location of the game night.

Book Discussion Group

The Unitarian Universalist Women's Federation Book Discussion Group will meet about every third Saturday at Lee Booksellers in the Edgewood Center, 56th St. and Hwy 2. All UU women are welcome. Contact the Office Staff for more details.

We read a range of books both fiction and nonfiction, serious and not so much so. We tend to read books written by women but not exclusively so.

Feel free to just drop in for a lively exchange of ideas and plenty of laughter.

We try to start promptly at 10 AM and finish between 11 and 11:30 AM. Come a few minutes early to get coffee.

Lee's will sell copies of the current book to group members at a 20% discount. Tell them you are with the UUWF Book Group.

Men's Potluck

The Men's Holiday Potluck will be held Monday, December 12, 2005, at 6:30 PM at the church. Bring your favorite holiday dishes and share the fellowship. The turkey will be provided.

The Men's Potluck group meets the second Monday of every month at 6:30 PM at the church. Contact the Office Staff for further information.

New-Member Orientation

The Newcomers Committee invites anyone interested to attend Newcomers Chat at 11:05 AM on the first Sunday of each month in the Church Library (Room 2).

Open Circle Discussions

The Open Circle Discussions offer a structured but informal small-group way to explore how to live in keeping with Unitarian Universalist principles. We invite you (any you!) to try one out. Contact the Office Staff for the place and time of the next meetings.

Currently, the meeting times are:

  • First Tuesdays, 7:00 PM

  • Second Tuesdays, 1:45 PM

  • Second Wednesdays, 7:15 PM

  • First Thursdays, 7:15 PM

  • Third Thursdays, 7:15 PM

If you're interested in an Open Circle Discussion, but can't make any of these times, please contact the Office Staff.

Unitarian Women Eat

Please contact the Office Staff for more information on this group.

UU Singles Group

On Saturday, December 10, 2005, The UU Adult Singles Group is sponsoring a potluck Holiday Party at 7:00 PM. Please contact the Office Staff for location of the party.

Everyone is welcome to attend — you do not need to be a member of the Singles Group, and should feel free to bring a guest with you. Please bring an appetizer or snack to share. Beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided.

The Unitarian Singles Group is a group for singles ages 21 and up. We are an open group that is dedicated to having fun and finding ways to socialize. Some activities that we have been involved in are monthly brunches, coffee-house nights, going to art museums, attending plays and concerts, and whatever else sounds like good entertainment.

If you are interested in being put on our e-mail list, please contact me, Loene Hollis, and I will notify you when events are planned.

UU Women's Federation

The Unitarian Universalist Women's Federation (UUWF) is an organization for all interested women. The purpose of the UUWF is to join together for mutual support, personal growth, spiritual enrichment, fun, and community. Through our combined strength and vision, we commit ourselves to seek a future of wholeness and integrity in a world at peace, where the worth and dignity of each individual is valued.

Four times a year, all of us meet. We call this the Umbrella Group. Our theme this year is to share and enlarge our personal spiritual growth experiences. The focus of meetings will be interaction, sharing, and self-awareness. Mark your calendar for:

Sunday, February 12, 2006, 3 – 5 PM, Tea
"The Arts." This meeting will feature visual, performance, and literary arts of group members with commentary from the artists.

Sunday, April 29, 2006, 9 AM – 4 PM, Retreat at Camp Catron
Camp Catron is a Girl Scout Camp near Nebraska City with excellent facilities. Kim Beyer-Nelson will lead us in a day of activity designed to deepen and enrich our theme for the year.

In addition to the Umbrella Group, UUWF provides a space for self-directed small groups for members and friends. Those currently active are a book discussion group, a luncheon group, a dinner group, and support for Fresh Start Home, which is a living program for women without children who are homeless and working on a new direction in their lives. New groups may be formed as members express interest.

UUWF dues are $20/year, with scholarships available. Plan to join us!

For more information on UUWF activities, please contact the Office Staff.
