Money stolen from Hillcrest Country ClubBy Mark Mahoney Money was taken from Hillcrest Country Club, 9401 O Street, sometime between 11 p.m. July 14 and 6 a.m. July 15.According to sheriff’s reports, when the country club’s maintenance director arrived at work, he found the west overhead garage door open. When he checked the business office, he noticed a safe on the floor, which someone had tried to pry open, but failed. There were two cash boxes - both had contained $100 - on a table in the office, but were empty, according to sheriff’s reports. Also missing was $3,291.88 from a second safe, which may have been unlocked, according to sheriff’s reports. There was a third safe in the office that was bolted to the countertop; it was tampered with, but not opened. Damage to the safe and countertop was estimated at $1,025. Lancaster County Sgt. Andy Stebbing said the case is under investigation. |
