Firth teen hospitalized after drinking too much alcohol

By Mark Mahoney

A Firth teenager was taken to a Lincoln hospital a little before midnight July 30 after drinking too much alcohol.

According to sheriff’s reports, Hallam Rescue took a 14-year-old Firth girl to BryanLGH Medical Center West after she vomited due to allegedly consuming a large amount of alcohol. She was treated and released the next day.

The teen allegedly admitted to drinking four to five shots of Jack Daniels with her friends, but would not say who the friends were or where they obtained the alcohol, according to sheriff’s reports. She also allegedly tested .096 during a preliminary breath test before she was transported to the hospital, according to sheriff’s reports.

Her mother reported that she had no alcohol in the house. The teen’s room was searched with permission from her mother, but no alcohol was found. The teen was cited on suspicion of MIP by consumption - meaning she wasn’t holding any alcohol but allegedly had alcohol in her system, Stebbing said - and released. She was also referred to juvenile court, according to sheriff’s reports.
