Bernice Remmers

Bernice Marie (Otto) Remmers, 89, Beatrice, passed away at Parkview Center in Beatrice Thursday, October 2, 2008. Born on March 9, 1919, in Pickrell to William and Maria A. (Wendt) Otto.

Was resident of Gage County her entire life. Married Alfred Remmers on June 30, 1950, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Worked at Store Kraft Manufacturing for 25 years, at former Lutheran Hospital, and at Elks Club in Beatrice when she retired. Was member of St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice; life member of American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, and Federated Women’s Club; and member and past president of Benevolent Patriotic Order of DOES, #10, and Grand Lodge member. Enjoyed bowling, Nebraska football, traveling and volunteering.

Survivors include: sister, Rosetta Graves, Beatrice; nephew; nieces; sister-in-law, Bernice Otto, Beatrice; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband; sisters, Emma and Alma Otto, and Frieda Uhlman; brother, Raymond W. Otto; brothers-in-law, Gottfried Uhlman and Virgil Graves; and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 6, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice with the Rev. David Kramer officiating. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to rich@griffithshovendick.com.
